Project 358: Day 47

Day 47: As Yet Untitled
Can any of YOU come up with a clever caption for this one? I'm drawing a blank...

Project 358: Day 46

Notice how there's no photo in this post? That's because I forgot to take one. Doh! I know that, "in the grand scheme of things," this is really no big deal. But, man, I just really wanted to do this thing right and now here it is February and I've already screwed it up.

Poopy.

Project 358: Days 44 and 45

Day 44: KB and BA
I love this woman. This woman who has been my friend for nearly 21 years. This friend who is the kind of friend every woman should have, the kind of friend that makes you want to be a better friend. She is the kind of friend who listens to your tales of heartache and aches with you, who listens to your tales of adventure and relishes every juicy detail. She is the kind of friend who will drop everything to help you if needed and the kind of friend who is always ready and willing to sit down with a glass of wine and have a nice long chat. And if the chatting is happening at her house, it's pretty safe to assume that something deliciously homemade will be presented for consumption (the girl is a fantastic cook).

I have grown up with this woman and, along the way, have learned so very much from her. Honestly, I really don't know what I would do without her.

Thank you, "Keri Berri," for everything. You are, have always been, and will forever be absolutely essential in my life.

Day 45: Mommy Playdate
Mommies need playdates too, ya know.

Day 42: We Heart Ikea
Seriously, when it comes to kid stuff, they're pretty hard to beat. Our latest purchase? This awesome pouch swing for Elinor's room. Wish they made adult size...

Day 43: Saturday Morning S'mores
Sure, why not?

Project 358: Days 39 - 41

Day 39: Why Don't We Do This More Often?
There are so many evenings that I whip up something easy for the kids to eat for dinner and then prepare dinner for Stephen and myself after they have gone to bed. Sometimes it is nice to have a quiet dinner just the two of us, a chance to talk over a warm meal without being interrupted every five seconds. And, quite often, Stephen and I would like to eat something that the kids would undoubtedly refuse. But the times that I am able to get my act together and prepare a meal for the four of us to enjoy together, I am always so glad that I did. These meals are not leisurely; they are not calm. They are noisy and giggly, often messy, and sometimes frustrating, but they are, by far, my favorite. We really need to do this more often.

Day 40: Comfort Food
Baked potato loaded with black beans and shredded cheddar. Sauteed kale with balsamic vinegar and garlic. Mmmm-MM! Totally hit the spot.

Day 41: Amusing
Stephen's grandmother brought this framed napkin to our house the other day, written and signed by Stephen approximately two months before we met. It made me chuckle.

Project 358: Day 37

Day 37: Currently Reading

Oh my goodness, I am so in love with this cookbook! 424 beautiful pages packed full of delicious vegetarian and vegan recipes, loaded with gorgeous color photos (including tons of step-by-step instruction photos!) and a plethora of useful tips and techniques (subjects range from "how to reconstitute dried mushrooms" to "how to easily peel cipollini onions"). This book is bound to be a favorite for many years to come.

The second book in the photo, The Complete Compost Gardening Guide, is my first step toward fulfilling one of my New Years Resolutions: to start a compost pile. Spring will be upon us before we know it, so I better start reading!
